i bought a 6 inch silver araowana last week
i woukd like to know abt the lightning for the aro tank
should i have to switch on throught out the day
or should i hav to switch off the CFl lamps at night

wen they are young they usually always prefer darker lighting...altho it really shouldnt make much of a difference...i guess u dont have to bother leaving it on 24/7 so u can save power! well done silvers are magnificent BEASTS! soon u will have a monster on ure hands wooooo
 
Lighting is mostly for people, not the fish. I usually keep my lights on during the afternoon for a few hours. You can leave them on as long as you want during the day, but you'll just end up burning your bulbs out quicker. It's best not to turn the lights on after it's dark out also, more so if the room the fish are in is dark. You'll see them run to the hills to find over due to the fact that they have no eyelids.
 
my silver aro doesn't really mind the lighting really. i turn it off and on randomly with no fixed schedule.
