Bought as an azul ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I am no pro at identifying young cichla but I think that is a young azul.

Jimmie knows his zulies.

You got it all wrong my brother, I'm an orino junkie. I'll be ordering 6 this Friday lol. Why the hell do we buy, raise em up to 9-10" then sell, and start all freaking over again. We wait so long for these fish when they come in, then pull this kind of shibby. That's why I don't understand when OG's tell newbs you gotta have a 300 gallon or more. No you don't, because within a year your chasing the next batch like a crackhead

I think when people tell u that u need a big tank its more of concern for the fishes health & behaviour. i think of it this way, a fish that wants to grow up but is constrained in a small tank as compared to its body size feels stress as with one swipe of its tail it has to make a U turn, and as he grows longer the width of the tank makes it hard to turn. this stress leads to disease in the tank leading too a troublesome tank. it is not impossible to keep a big peacock in a tank. its just troublesome and more stressful for the fish. i personally will keep my peacocks in my main tank 149.61 Gallons as long as possible till i notice their behavior change then i will let them go, but as long as they are fine in the tank they will stay in it.

Oh yeah,a month from now it might be a little bigger and have the telltale spots or spangles on it's body.
