Last night I bought 2 BGk's for 4$ a pop and I'm really happy about it. Had them before just never had any luck with them. Hope this time will b better. They're both around 2" and when I saw the guy netting them at the lfs, chasing them all around and moving the filter and pushing them I thought they'll b stressed like hell, but thankfully as soon as they got into my tank they started calmly exploring even with the light on.
They were checking out the hiding places and one quckly found his fav spot while the other one kept looking. They quareled over that spot breefly but nothing serious, just a little pushing. Finally the second found himself a spot too after a while. I did notice that they prefer tight places as they didn't hang for long in wide hidding spots but seemed to stuff themselves in places that just fits their body.
Today they're each one in his spot hidding so I couldn't take any pix, should've donne it last night. I checked on them during the night and they were all over the tank swiming around. One of them comes out of his spot every now and then but the other one is staying put. I'll post pix when I they come out and get a good shot.
I guess I just wanna say thanks to the MFK community, reading all those posts about them encouraged me to get them again, I love those weird guys!! :naughty:

i hope you plan to split them up later on with a tank of 75g per knife minimum. they are known not to get along with their own species

+1, They get a pretty good size, some websites say around 20", but more likely to stay around 14" - 18" in aquariums. Not to mention the one per tank rule, any fish that emits E.O.D (Electric Organ Discharge) prefers to be kept singly.

Well either than that, great choice. They are a very fun fish to have; I own one myself.

I'll keep an eye on them, i wanted to see for myself since in all the lfs they keep a bunch of them in one tank. So far there was no problems, daytime they keep each to their hideout and checked on them at night they seem to roam around together. No injuries on any of them. Also they're not staying with me for life, once they grow to big they go back to the lfs.

Yea fish aren't that expencive here. I had CK before, they're awesome too. Def less shy then BGK. But for 10$ I cen get a small discus here man :D

Ya, $10 is expensive for a CK but hes worth every penny lol :grinno:

There is a small chance that you may have more success keeping multiple BGKs instead of a pair. They tend to become more territorial as they mature. While they are kept in a single tank at lfs, it's because they are being sold and they do not cause major damage to each other at such a small size. A few members have had success keeping multiple BGKs together and even less keeping a pair. Keep an eye on them and be prepare to separate them if anything happens.

I surely will keep a very close eye on them, so far I haven't noticed them eating during the day but I do put them some dried shrimp pellets late at night. Although I can't be sure they're eating those too, but I see that they're active when i turn on the light they scatter away and hide. So far they look well, no damage or broken fins on them. I'm thinking since it's only been 3 days that I got them they probably still didn't get used to the new tank.

ok i want know let you. BGK grow too fast. i was buy 5cm and one years later 22cm. he is close 3years 38cm. too many waste in my tank and eat too many :O
