Bought live rock today, parents were pissed.

Oh man was it an episode. "ARE YOU STUPID?! WHY WOULD YOU SPEND 60 DOLLARS FOR A ROCK? I MEAN, IT'S A NICE LOOKING ROCK BUT YOU CAN PICK ONE UP IN THE WOODS" "This isn't just a rock, it's live rock" "IF IT'S ALIVE THEN WHY ISN'T IT MOVING?" Oh man, it was worth it. Have any of you got into similar arguments with your spouse/family member?

You're skrewed until they see all of the awesome stuff that grows out of it. I spend more time looking at the Rock and the life on it than the fish in my tanks!

This is why I always have my parents come with me.
It's the best when they want something and are willing to pay for the upgrade when it outgrows the current tank.

My stepdad filled his 60g bowfront with live rock because the salesman talked him into getting ALL live and not any dead ones. It was nearly 300 dollars. my mom went crazy and to this day its a joke that he spent so much money on rocks.

TBH when he sold the tank and broke it down he made his money back. People will pay more than you paid for it when its full of years of growth.
