(pics taken 2 weeks ago) I bought this FH 2 weeks ago from a lfs for $30 thinking that It was a good deal but as you can see on the pics his LOWER LEFT lip was damage due to a scuffle from the other fh. That's what the lfs owner told. His lower left lip was a bit swollen and turning white (might be a ducklip). At first, I didn't want to buy this little fella, so I decided to purchase him to have at least a fighting chance to live . When I took him home, he didn't eat for 2 days, got me worried but on the 3rd day he started to eat the pellets and frozen bloodworms. I started to medicated his injuries by using metafix , pimafix , aq salt , low temps and pellets soak in garlic. Every 2 days 25% water change. 3 days ago I noticed that his lower left lip was not swollen and turning back to its original color but the lower lip damage is still there. This might be a permanent battle scar and adds character. Right now he eats everything likes there's no tomorrow and full of energy.

Killer deal for $30

Gice it a little longer and see how the lip heals. As long as it wasn't severely rip up or torn it should heal back. Looks good a steal for 30 bucks

Good deal but I say you gambled and winning atm. Great that he's eating. When these guys get injured severely, especially in the mouth from lip locks, their immune system weaken and very often, it's downhill from there. He's looking good.

thanks for the positive responds folks. The lfs owner wants to get rid of him due to injuries. He pretty much didn't care if lives or not. Just like rescuing a 3 legged dog. lol

Very nice pick up and definitely a killer deal for him. I wish my LFS has flowerhorns like this for that price. Good job getting him back to health.

Update (taken Oct 5, 2017), This fella has fully recovered from his lip injuries not even a scar. Its looks like they put a lot of size in a short amount of time. Is this pretty normal for this type of fish?
