Hey All,

Hope you all doing, being my first tank I thought I would put it up as a community tank so, yes initially I did made some research on what fish to keep and the compatibility among other species and all that, so finally decided to setup with Tetras and barb varieties (with proper cautions in mind), Its 120 gallon tank and there's plenty of space for 1-3 inchers to swim around, I went to every store that I can possibly go with my surroundings and bought one at a time and put them in my aquarium with proper acclimation, a few weeks past and everyone who saw was like AWESOME DUDE!! I was like 'I Know..' after that again some few months past one day I was bored and I was thinking may be I could get some more fish in it.(Made the calculations for how many fishes for 120g). Went to the stores to look in for any new types of tetra or barbs had arrived, as I was looking through there was this small slender pinking with dark spot fish (probably 4 inches) caught my eye, and I asked the petshop guy what is it? He said its a 'Spotted Catfish'(not knowing the correct name for the species), I've asked him is he compatible with species I have in my aquarium? He said yes, it go just fine. OK I said bought it with proper acclimation it lurked the tank around and he was comfortable with it. I tried to make a research of it (which I suppose to do before buying him/her :wall:) and I could find a proper name for it, Since didn't know what species it is started to post pics on many forums including MFK.com

Then I got the name which is 'Walking Catfish', I was 'Oh OK, let's make a search for it then, I came to realize this guy can eat like anything anything that fits in his/her mouth. And it was like a month now I realized it, cause his growth rate seems to be pretty fast from 4 to 6 inch in 1 1/2 months of time,

Lesson Learned 'Never buy a fish without knowing it properly.'

Yeah and don't forget the walking part. I've heard they are pretty good at escaping. Lots of thump in the night kinda stories one involving catfish covered in cat hair. Moral ...tight fitting lid. On a less depressing note maybe this is the start of a beautiful relationship and you'll decide to redo your tank around him. Just a thought.

+1, they like to walk out of the tank.

They are invasive here so not only do you catch them up to about 1.5 feet, but when it rains they walk all over the place. Here is a video from my girlfriend's old apartment complex (not my video).
