Boulengerella Lucia-Gar Or Not?

Ive been lookin for a gar fish (florida-cuban-or spotted) and was at the local fish store and came across these guys at 2" long. now i know there are types of gars that they sell that aren't really gars and i was wondering if this was one of them.

You are correct. That's not a true Gar, but a Characin. The pic is kind of small, but it looks like some type of Characin.

yea looks like one. marbled, fins match but has the latereal line the lateristringe has, well based on photos in this book anyways. says gets to 50cm. i've never kept one.

Look like in Genus Boulengerella .From 5 species I'm not sure.
