Bowfin growth

I ordered a 2.5” bowfin and I need help deciding on a grow out tank. How long would a 55 last before I need to get its big tank?

They seem to grow at a decent rate; mine (was 3 or so inches when I first got him) hit around 10 inches within the first year, and gradually slowed down to around 1/3 an inch per month until he got to 15ish inches, at which I lost him due to an unfortunate accident. By that, I'd say that a standard 55 would ideally only last up to half a year, possibly more based on diet, filtration, tankmates, and whatnot. Also, regardless of gender, they seem to get pretty aggressive once they hit the one-year mark, and mine unfortunately slaughtered a few large Geos he was with at the time. Really awesome fish, though- one of my absolute favorites. Good luck with yours!
Edit: Forgot to add that I started him off in a 75 and transferred him to a 200G stock tank after six months.

Thanks for all the info! If I can get 6 months out of the 55, that’s more than good. A big stock tank is my plan as well, or big pool pond

Forgot to say that I’m keeping it solo, so aggression isn’t an issue
