That is. It's a 160 running with a 40 gallon sump, the heat I believe is coming from the pump as the room is 72. It reached 81 at one point. The water temp that is. I bet this will be good for the plants! It has a good current flow and good filtration in addition to live plants.
Bowfins will thrive in an extraordinarily wide range of temperatures, so you should be fine at 80. You're very lucky to own one by the way. I believe pictures are in order.
Thanks for info, I'm looking for a new pump that's rated for about 1500gph. The pump is the heat source. I'm using a throttled down 5300gph pump on a 160 gallon tank so as you can imagine it's warm.
