Pickup up another bowfin a couple weeks back and stupidly decided to just toss it into the 600 with my other bowfin and some alligator gars. All seemed well till I noticed some fish lice on the new pick up.
I looked through some threads and found 2 meds that were recomended, decided based on availability to use Prazipro. I lowered the water level in the pond to try to use less meds, so I'm currently running about 360 gallons. Have so far done 3 treatments as per the instructions on the package and still have fish lice. The lice have spread to a couple of the bowfin but there doesn't seem to be any on the gator gars.
Any suggestions? Should I just keep using the Prazipro? I also have another medication that is supposed to work for fish lice, active ingredients are sodium chloride, trichlorfon, and diflubenzuron. Wasn't sure if this might work or if it might be toxic for the gars and bowfin.
I have tried manual removal, with the size and temperment of the fish I don't feel this is an effective option.
