Just received a 3" bowfin through the mail today. Its been a while since I've had a bowfin and its been a while since I've had a fish shipped (been laying very low in the hobby while I focused on my 3 young children).

I got the bowfin from Jackson Aquatics (jacksonaquatics.net). Fish was professionally packed: as well as I have ever seen. Fish arrived alive and very active. Very happy with the transaction.

No pics on my end, but there are pics on the site above.

There is a supply of small bowfin I was eyeing as well. Bluegrassaquatics has some for sale around that size. I really want to pick on up for my ancient tank, but my only available grow-out tank is currently housing a very untrustworthy catfish.

I'd love to know how quickly this guy grows. Please update from time to time on how he's doing. Great pick up by the way!

Can't wait to see pictures. I much prefer Burbot but they're both cool fish.

Never kept a burbot. Ever catch one/keep one?

Caught a 28" one once in Erie night fishing in my boat. Illegal to keep in pa since they're endangered in the state. The Erie population is booming but because there aren't enough in the allegheny river now you can't keep them from anywhere.

Burbot as in lota lota?
We have some here but they all die in the summer. A few somehow manage to survive but all die off one way or another

Yes Lota lota. They are cold water species so maybe it's to warm where you live?
