Last night I went to clean my tank and when I went to open the doors I noticed them being extra tight. What seems to be happening is that my stand is bowing inwards a bit in the middle causing the doors to be pushed down by the frame.

Below is a pic of my stand that is pressedboard. The only support is around the edges. Has anyone had problems with stands like this before?

I had a 55g tank with the same stand design. This 125g tank is my first big tank and it has been setup for about 6 months now. I picked it up used.

The bright side is there is nothing in it. I would take it down pull the stand out and check to see where it needs additional support.

cut some 2x4 braces and insert them inside the stand

BY THE WAY AWESOME SPOT FOR A TANK

There are fish in it now including a lot of gravel. Getting it to a new stand will be a huge undertaking.

I like the idea of some 2x4 supports and some bracing. In the interim I think I should look at building a new stand with a 2x4 frame and some vainer.

2x4 stands with oak plywood look fantastic if you take your time and do it right.

Sounds odd that the only support is around the edges, I'd be quite concerned about that. I couldn't agree more on the internal brace but it will probably need to be replaced down the line.
