I know there is a way for amphs without venting.
Beautiful Midas/devil btw!

To me it looks female, body shape and forehead slope are the indicators I look at.

Casper at that size had a very different looking body shape/forehead

Yep, I agree with you guys. I kind of suspected it was a female. I had a nice 10” male that was gonna be a future Casper but I finally had to put him down recently. He was a very cool fish. When i stood at the end of my 8 foot tank he would swim the full length of the tank to great you. I would move to the other end and he would do it again. It’s really cool to see a fish that big swimming towards you at full steam. I really miss that guy.

It’s interesting watching how the dynamics in an aquarium change over time. I purchased these 3 Sagittaes at the same time. They turned out to be the 10” male, this 8 inch female, and a much smaller female. The male and the tiny female were pretty tight while leaving the 8” alone. Everybody got along. Then after I had to put down the male the tiny female forced the 8” female into hiding in the rock pile. She would only come out to eat. Now after removing the 8” the tiny one stares continuously into the rock pile. It’s like she’s say: “WTF??? Where did she go??”

I think she will go back in the 300 eventually and I’ll find a different male for the 90. Maybe I’ll try a Trimac. I’ve got a quickly growing Petsmart red devil in the 300 so I’m sure the dynamics will be changing again and give her another chance in the 300.

fun stuff.
