Just wondering, could a BP or two go along with 2x 4'' IT dats in a 3'x1'x2'?
I've never kept BP's but i like the look of some like Super reds and spizz's pie-bald/creamsicles.

Also wondering about BPxFH.

Cool.
I'm trying to find some bright red ones, most of the ones around me look like dooky and are bland/blotchy and dirty looking.

The dats are 4'' at the moment, dats grow slow.
It's just a grow out tank.
They'll be moved into a 4x2x2 once they reach 8''

Just keep an eye on them BP cannot bite so don't be looking for chunks and tears as indication for fighting. They scrape their feakish mouth on the side of the fish and tear it open layer by layer so look for missing scales.

Good luck!

I'm pretty weary of trying this.
But If I find some really nice BP's, I might...

I love my BPs, but they're tall, long and fat when full-grown. I'd say two adults would need a 4' tank to be comfortable. There are those who will disagree with me, but I prefer to keep my fish happy rather than stick them in what they'll barely fit in.

Like I sad before, the 35G is a growout.
The dats grow really slow, so it works for them.
If the BP's outgrow the tank quickly I can move them to a larger tank.

Once the dats outgrow the 35 they'll be moved into a 4x2x2 and then I could re-unite the BP's with them.
:D

I think it's worth a try. I've had my female, as well as another undetermined sex (r.i.p.), mixed in with a variety of tankmates. Aggressive to non aggressive, never bothering anyone. I've also seen far more aggressive fish mixed with dats. Go for it.
