well i've had this tank sitting empty in my basement a while and it's coming time to set it up. problem is one of the braces is cracked and the crack goes all the way through the trim.

what's the best method of repair on something like this in your opinions?

right now i'm leaning towards buying a new top trim, popping the old one off and replacing it. i'm thinking this is the safest method because 220gallons of water would be alot of mess if a repair didn't hold.

gimme your thoughts MFK

Get the new top frame.Ive seen a 55g tank bow out 6" from the brace popping. If it happened on a 200g full of fish in my living room Id have a frikin heart attack.

ya.. i would repair the brace.. u can't risk it.. I lost a 150 gallon due to the center class piece that holds the tank together..

i'm definately going to repair it. it's just choosing what course of action, either repair the current trim/brace by some method or just replace it with a new one

I bought a new brace for my 220 (6' X 2') for $50 from All Glass Aquariums. Just be careful not to chip the glass edges when removing the old one, and clean off the old silicone.

if you can get the right part this seems the best
