Hi all,

First time posting on here so apologies if I've posted in the wrong section.
I need some advice please. Recently picked up a second hand juwel rio 400 and I've just noticed the two braces were looking pretty screwed. So i gave them a poke and they both fell off.
I've managed to remove all the the old pieces of plastic brace that were still stuck to the rim of the tank. But how am I best to fit new braces? Never done braces before so don't know where to start.
Any help or advice would be great.
Thanks

Welcome!

You may want to contact Juwel or a dedicated fish store that may be able to order you the correct part.

Hi, ive got two new braces on order they should be here in a couple of days. Main thing really is what to use to secure them? I've used HA6 before to reseal tanks over the years but not sure its ideal for securing braces?

I have a 680 Tank that the braces are broken on.
Because of the constant minor earthquake activity here, it constantly leaks (luckily its on the patio), evenaftertwo repair attempts.
To keep it from totally coming apart at the seems, I use home improvement/hardware store clamps like the ones below.36FA56BD-997D-48CC-A22B-110461116D7F_1_201_a.jpeg
Because the tank is quite wide, I had to use very large Irwin Quick Gear clamps (24")

Aquarium Repair Level: Legendary..... i did the same thing on a 55 gallon hospital tank that the center top brace snapped

I had to look up the HA6 but will assume since you've used it to reseal tanks before, it should be just fine to attach the new braces. I've only had to replace one top brace over the years but just applied silicone in the frame groove so it will attach to the glass and added weight on top of the frame to hold it down while curing.

After it cured, I applied silicone to the inside top edge where it contacts the glass to prevent water from the tank wicking up and dripping out of the tank.

I’ve had luck with cracked braces using Weldon and strips of acrylic/plexi that cover the crack. Used this on my 125 gallon for many years. No issues.
