Hi guys, I'm thinking of having one of two tanks built and wondering if I can get some feedback on how safe the designs are.

I want a braceless rimless (LxWxH) 75x40x40cm/30x16x16" tank in 6mm glass, or a braceless rimless 90x40x40cm/36x16x16" in 10mm glass.

I ran the dimensions through here: http://www.theaquatools.com/building-your-aquarium and they seem pretty safe, but neither that calculator nor any other glass thickness guide I've found goes into detail on the necessity of cross braces, so wondering if any of you can provide information in that regard.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I do not have enough knowledge to answer that but a tank that size has a lot of pressure.

Thanks Smitty.
Reading through some of the comments under the calculator I linked to, seems it's intended for braceless tanks.
Unless someone knows better and wants to talk me out of it I think I'll go ahead with one of the designs.

At the size tank your talking, you'll probably be OK. 16" isn't really all that high.

Most calculators assume that you will brace the tank.
