Got him a couple months ago at 4-5in from discus origin. He is now a solid 11-12in and eats almost anything. Krill, smelt, silversides, massivore, and blackworm pellets are all favorites with this guy. He’s currently in a 210 but 350 will be his next move. Very peaceful and graceful fish. Can’t believe that this fish is confused with capa honestly..growth alone tells the true identity between these two fish. This fish has caught up and surpassed both my capa by a inch or two, and I had them way longer than fila.

Good job. Mine two from the same place are about the same, both growth and ease.

Easy for you to say now having both fish. Now imagine how it was 1-2 short years ago when we had only capa. It wasn't that easy at all to properly ID caparpetum, which, BTW, was only split from fila or given its own species in 2005 by Dr. Lundberg. Not that long ago either.

I understand about the similarities of these two fish trust me. Guess I forgot about that fact and based what I said on the information we have now such as small spots vs large spots/blotches, and head shape. How big are your fish now that you got from Discus?

Probably close to yours, ~12"-14", could be slightly more.

Stunning... Max size?

Remains to be determined in captivity in MFK hands.
