Hi!
I've got some questions about this magnificent fish!:D

Does these fish really get THAT big in aquariums?
What are the growth-rate?
How many here keep these in aquariums?
How often are they seen for sale?
Any1 got pics?

Tuda, there are some people here who have b. filamentosum including myself!!!!!

Slow growth and go to the search and type in filamentosum, you will see pics of mine and a few other members.

They come up once in a while, you should get one.

there is one un named member that has one over 60". Nuff said lol. Mine grows really slow compared to most of my fish, but still grows faster than my jurense. I have a bluegill that is outgrowing it by leaps and bounds.

Thanks for your answeres!

It sounds like a good aquarium-fish since it grows slow but how big would it get compared to an RTC? I know that they grow huge in the nature but will it even reach 4 feet in an aquarium/pond?

necrocanis, I thought the unnamed individual you are speaking of has a flavicans aka b. rousexaii (sp?)

so theres a 60" cat out there and I see no pics...damn...now im curious...lol. Whether Rousseoaxxii or fila...both very slow growing...so either has had it for years after initially obtaining it at a decent size...or came in pretty big to begin with....

laz, I'm sure its a Rousseoaxxii because Necro told me about some UNNAMED individual who had a large 60 inch Rousseoaxxi. I could be wrong, waiting on Cliff to come on here.

Oh yeah Tuda, Superlaz has a fila too so you could ask him questions too.

I'm still not sure on the id because of the blurry pics, but either way it's huge and in a huge pond I helped design. This thing is a monster, and he knows other people with some large ones 40"+. They have had them for years. After a second look I am thinking it's definitely a filamentosum. I have no expirience with rous, so not sure. From what I understand they are close in the growth race though. Filas get monsterous in the wild, but not too many people have had them in the states for very long. The big ones are overseas. One of the pics he sent looks like a friend's tank with a large 4' or more fila and a 3' or more jau in the same tank along with some aros a pima ect. There's many tanks in asia that we can only dream of here in the states. All the tanks I was sent pics of were over 1k gals. One was supposed to be 4k, and the pond I believe was 20k. I cannot say more

Necrocanis, any way you can post pics? Come on, convince the guy to let us see pics! Show us pics of the other filas.

Also is this guy in the US?

guys please post pics of your filas =)
