Well, the fish when i got was hardly 1.5"+, got them in July 2018.

The fish when small very easily accepted frozen foods, such as macrobrachium shrimp and tilapia fillet.

Although they are easily spooked, and will go crashing all around the tank.

The fish is best kept in very large tanks, anything less than a 6' tank for a fish bigger than 5" would result in the fish constantly breaking it's about by crashing into the tank walls.

They take a lot of time to adjust to change, i used to keep two to them, and they used to constantly bite each other's tails, separated them and they stopped eating for quote some time, and one of them passed away during this. Have them live foods and one of them started eating again.

They also rub their snouts against the tank walls when they are not at ease, and will go on till they settle down, and will not stop even when they turn their snouts raw and skin peeled off.

Here's a video I took of the fish in question yesterday night

I notice you have a quite settled larger Tigrinus in the same tank, and very little in the way of cover or territory.
I don't want any driftwood or other decor in the tank, as i notice that the B. Rouseauxii kinda never hides in a cave or behind a driftwood, they prefer open spaces.

How does the Tigrinus get on with the Rous?
There was some aggression when the rouseauxii was new, may be during the first 2 weeks, the rouseauxii got bitten 3-4 times.

Now there's no issues.

Lovely post, Jib. Great job.

I am with Dave. My most earnest advice to you would be that the dourada must be solo or in the company of the meekest of tank mates who will not pay it any mind whatsoever. Sooner or later the tig will injure or kill the dourada.

While I have never had this exact combo tig+dourada long term, I have had probably all other combos of various Brachies. I also have lost like 6-8 dourada to incompatible tank mates eventually learning what I advised above.

Finally, the tig grows significantly quicker than dourada too, and of course, as you noted yourself, dourada is in the top 10 of the most nervous and self-inflicted-injury-prone fish out there.

All this works against you in this time bomb.
