A previous post in this forum put me in the mood for a dorado cat. Segrest had two fish listed that seemed like good possibilites. One was the brachyplatystoma rousseauxii under a common name I can't remember (not dorado) and the second was brachyplatystoma flavicans under the name nanay dorado catfish. The brachyplatystoma flavicans really confused me because I thought it was an old name that was no longer in use. I did the only logical thing and bought one of both. They really do appear to be the same fish. One is maybe pushing three inches the other two and half. They have both put on decent size since I got them. I really really want them to turn silver. I was only able to get pictures of the bigger one today. If anyone can give a positive ID please do so. thankscat1.JPG cat2.JPG cat3.JPG cat4.JPG

It’s a B. rousseauxii.

For all of my intents and purposes and for all I know, this is for sure correctly ID'ed by you. It's pretty dark for now, just like the one you had sent me a video of by email. Is it the same fish? I thought you were turned off by its coloration.

From the same group. The price was right so I took a chance. Hopefully it will be money well spent.

So far they are doing well and growing nicely. I have them in a 20H with lots of blackworms. Once they finish of the worms i will try to get them to eat frozen krill
