Bracing

I picked up a 3'x2'x15" tank today with a divider down the middle. I would like to remove the divider and was wondering would I then need to brace the tank? And if so, how is best to do so?

Cut the divider out and clean all the old silicone off, then get 2x 2" strips of glass the length of the tank to brace the long sides and a 3" strip the length xfront to back to hold everything together. Silicone in place and jobs a goodun!

I don't suppose there is any way of doing it with using the dividing piece of glass? Am I able to run 2'x2" pieces along the lengths?

Or could I join two pieces together to make the 3' length?
