Brackish cycle

You should fishless cycle your tank at whatever SG the fish are in at the store (usually FW). Then you can raise the SG no more than .002/weekly water change, to the disired SG for the species you are keeping. Since most BW fish are kept in FW at many LFS, when adding new fish to that tank, you'll have to drip-acclimate them to the SG your tank is up to.

Is marine arogonite and crushed coral ok for brackish tanks?

Not to hijack, but yeah I keep getting mixed reports.

However back on topic, Pufferpunk hit it on the nose as always.

Maring bacteria will die off in BW. Aragonite & CC is fine for BW tanks, treat/clean it as any other substrate.

i started my BW tank off as a FW one that was cycled and then a few weeks after i got my knight goby and found wetwebfotos and the people there helped me through the process of going brackish(pufferpunk helped a lot) and since my knight goby has thrived at salinty ranging from freshwater to full saltwater, that was until he jumped. i sometimes changed the salinity as much as 1.004 in a 10min period(topping off) and never had any problems with the tank cycling again.
