Hello everyone.
I have been reading online and hearing a lot of success stories of brackish guppy tank. I am a novice when it comes to brackish water but I know the basic stuff. I currently have a 10g brackish tank with a freshwater flounder and 2 bumblebee gobies. I also have an empty 40g tank and was wondering if it would be possible to set it up with brackish water and have some fancy guppies along with my flounder and my gobies. I know there wont be any temperament problems but I know that brackish water has to be changed according to the fish. Gobies can tolerate lower specific gravity but I cannot find any information on the flounder. Also what specific gravity can the guppies tolerate up to?

Ok since no one really knows I think im going with a specific gravity of about 1.005-6 and a ph of 7.0-7.4 if anyone is interested

Most "FW" flounders do best in low end BW, as will the gobies. Your pH will likely be a bit higher after adding the marine salt, but that is good. I aim for around 8, but don't really check it.

Guppies can be acclimated to full salt, or so I have read. They'll be fine at your salinity.

Good luck, pic when done!!

I'll be sure to add pics. The only reason I picked that PH was because I know that brackish fish tend to like harder water an I didn't know how much I could raise the PH without stressing the guppies too much.

I'm not a 100% sure about guppies, but I have mollies at a sg of .016. They are healthy and breeding, so I would guess that guppies would do just fine with the setup you are thinking of. Keep us posted as to how it works out for you.
