I impulse bought a polypterus endlicheri (Saddled Bichir) and a datnioid polota. (supposedly the smallest datnoid).
I've done a lot of research on both species and they both are commonly found in brackish and freshwater environments. They're both about 3 inches long right now. Eventually I'll have them in a 125 gallon(473L) at a minimum, most likely something larger like a 180 gallon(681L). Thinking in the long-term, what tankmates should I be considering?
I love the look of the Knight Goby (stigmatogobius sadanundio) and the Figure-8 Puffer (Tetraodon biocellatus). At least for a year or so until they become snack size.
I don't want to do monos, scats, or any other fish that will eventually need full saltwater.
I might consider archers. Any other options?
