I'm fairly new to Puffer families and I've got a few questions. First; I need to know for sure if the Parrot puffer (Colomesus Psittacus) is truely a brackish water puffer and how do I find a Dealer?:naughty: Second; I have a 55gl tank ready to be stocked but before I start adding them I would like to know can Red-Line Puffers (Tetraodon Biocellatus) and Figure Eight Puffers co-exist? Also can anyone tell me where to find some Red-Line Puffers please?:grinno:

I thi8nk you have your IDs & care confused.
Start here for profiles: http://www.**************.com/forum/ug.php/v/PufferPedia/
Check the Classifieds at that forum for puffers that might be available in your area.

thanks for the site, but something is wrong with there site right now.....I'll check back @ another time tho. Have you ever heard of a Parrot puffer by any chance?

Nothing wrong with that site, I'm on it now. Follow my sig.

Yeah, tetraodon biocellatus are Figure 8 puffers, not red-line. PP already gave you the link that I would've given. And no, they can't live with red-lines. Figure 8s can share their tank with certain other fish as long as the tank is large enough, but the only ones I know of are mollies, bumblebee gobies, knight gobies, dragon gobies (if given enough hiding spots and target feeding), and chromides.

I've never heard of parrot puffers, but check out The Puffer Forum as I'm not that versed in the various puffers, just my figure 8s mainly.

I doubt you'd ever find a Parrot anywhere...

You were right. I had the names mixed up. The Red-Line Puffer (Tetraodon Erthrotaenia) is a hard fish to find. My LFS tried twice to find them for me. So you think even if I have a large enough tank (say about 100+gl) that a single F8 and a single Red-Line couldnt co-exsit with other tankmates(mollies, guppies, chromides, halfbeaks, glassfishs, and a Dusky Panther goby)? Theres isnt any Puffer expert distributor out there that could help me find a Parrot Puffer (Colomesus Psittacus)?

In the 10+ years I've been doing this, I think I've heard of 1 parrot available in the aquarium trade & it was only because someone sold it from their collection to their LFS.
