are florida rays legal in cali and are there any salt water rays that can tolerate brackish water?

There are a good handful of rays that tolerate brackish waters, but all that I know of are really marine fish. I don't know if they can survive for long periods of time in brackish water, though.

Another thing is that they tend to get quite large as well, and probably aren't suitable for anything less than a public aquarium.

atlantic ray can go in brackish ._. and legal in CA ._. i had one in fw though. but as far as i know, those that dwell in fw around st john river is basically the same coastal specie along east coast o.O i think, not 100% sure.

Dasyatis Sabina is the Florida/Atlantic ray they tolerate freshwater to Saltwater... they are the only ones that I know of that can tolerate all these types of water... You need to get better filtration in Freshwater than Saltwater

Atlantic rays die in captive FW settings. The reason is that the FW group of them aren't the ones you find for sale. The animals in the pet trade are from marine stock, and should be kept that way. If you are in Cali and worried about rays, just get a salt tank set up and do it right instead of cutting corners.
