I have read and heared many times that you can turn just a normal pleco into a brackish... I want to know everyones thoughts about this, because i tried it once, and well, now im down one pleco, let me know what you think.

It can be done but should not. It takes a couple of weeks and will reduce the pleco's resistance to disease as well as seriously reduce it's life expectancy. There was a letter about it last year sometime in TFH
I have used salt as a remedy for treatment of ich along with heat to no ill effects with my plecos but as a full time deal definately not. Plecos and salt very poor mix IMO.
