my lfs has 3 dats but in brackish water. how do i convert to pure fresh water? acclimation process? and will they be ok in pure fresh water? they are very small 2-3"

its only silver tigers that live in brackish water if you dont want a brackish water tank dont buy silver tigers

st can live in fresh

You should be fine with a long/slow drip acclimation. AT, and NGT both can be found in brackish conditions in the wild. People have had success, keeping both in fresh, but it does appear NGT makes the transition easier.

ALL tigers can live in FW not just ST

doesnt mean its right

monos, archers and scats can also live in FW but its not the right water conditions for them

best if you find out what tigers they are 1st before you buy get a picture if you can

as for NGT being a Brackish water fish mmmmm still not sure about that one
1. i have never seen NGT kept in BW
2. NGT dont look like a BW fish AT do
3. When NGT are importeded they are in FW AT are normally BW
4. Until a few years back NGT were the hardest of all tigers to find and i now think the ingo listed saying they are a BW fish is wrong and needes to be looked at again
