My two brain corals have seen better days. They both appear to be dying. The first one I got, my biggest, has had a wound in the side since the day we bought it. The second one, the smaller one, was perfectly healthy when we bought it and stayed that way for awhile. Just recently though he started declining and stopped putting out his tentacles for food. Same goes for the bigger one. All my other corals are doing great. What could be going wrong?

First biggest one:

Second smaller one:

I'll get my parameters in a bit.

Ammonia= 0.0 ppms
Nitrate= 5.0 ppms
Nitrite= 0.0 ppms
SG = 1.022

hmmm, my guess is either your not feeding them specifically, some sort of tissue disease , or coral war-fare can you describe when and what brought this to your attention and how long have they been in the tank?

The bigger one has always had a wound on his side. The little one was in perfect health when we got it.

We started noticing a slow decline about three weeks ago. They just started looking, and acting less healthy.

Are they savable?

have you been dosing any strontium/molybinum(sp? i never get that right) or magnesium? what's you're alkalinity and calcium rating?
if it was coral fighting it would be a big patch pf pure white, not the slow degradation you have going on. this looks like either food or mineral deficiency. possibly parasites or irritation from fish/inverts

I have some on hand, how often should I be dosing it?

they can be saved but the slow tissue decline worries me is there any abnormal colors on the edges where the tissue is dying?? what fish are in there with the corals, and inverts??? Have you done anything different with the tank in that time? What additives are you using and when and how much?

really can't make that statement

follow the directions for a while and change the dosage as seems right for your tank, dosages will change as your corals grow and you get new ones
