Well after having problems with my Blood Parrot (health and aggression) I have decided to give him up, which has opened up a space in the tank for a new member. I decided to go with a GT for my setup with a JD, FM and Syno Cat in my 55. It was my understanding that the GT would probably be the most aggressive in the tank, which now that the others are matured they will be much larger so this should work (hopefully).

I thought he was quite the looker myself, can't wait to see him grow and get even more brilliant colors! He is in a grow tank at the moment.

is there something wrong with hhis top fin ? well nice colors on him

The dorsal is malformed. It should extend a bit further back. Apart from making the fish look funny , it doesn't actually hurt anything. He does have some nice color, but I'd return him for a non deformed fish.

he looks good to me. the dorsal fin looks a lil short but as he gets older it will get longer and stretch further back. anyways looking good. good luck with him.

Not in this case . If you look closely at the top pic, you can see that the dorsal base extends back the proper distance. The fin itself does not. Since there are no rays extending from the base the fin will not grow. Doesn't mean he won't make a good pet, just that he's a bit deformed. My recomendation to return him was based on my own preferences. Other than the fin he appears healthy.

How did the FM react? My FM gave the GS hell when I put him in!

He's still in a grower at the moment, soon enough the FM will get his chance, it's funny because when my JD was put in with the FM at first, the FM picked on him constantly. I wonder how many others have problems with that?

I knew he was different, and probably a little deformed, but he stood out the most, great personality even as a baby and better coloration than what the rest had. I figured it was just a fin, and nothing serious, nothing like some of the weirdo quirks I was getting from my BP. To me, he just stands out, besides none of my friends come over and like the anatomical correctness of my cichlids :grinno: they know nothing.

Thats cool. Glad to hear you got him!

I could be wrong....just suggesting..... but with the short top fin, it almost makes him look short bodied. His head looks bigger too.

His colors do look great though! Goodluck with him.
