Hello I bought two baby dovii both less then an inch long for both of them for 12 bucks. I am very excited I just wanted to check with the pros and see your guys imput. Both are destroying tiny baby guppies already and follow our fingers across the glass. I also would love a positive ID thank you

thank you, I am suprised to see how un-shy they are. Im keeping them in a very small 20 gallon for the time being, until they reach over 3 inches. This will be my first for keeping dovii cichlids but they will eventually be going with the rest of my cichlids into my larger tanks.

I would't recommend a Dovii in a community but it can be done, just make sure you house them with other tough cichlids in a massive tank.

Im down to 1 dovii (he killed the other one), right around 3.5 inches im going to wait a little bit longer, hell be going in a 265 with my 22''silver aro, breeding pair (6'' each) jaguar cichlids, 6'' male red devil/midas (petsmart), 6'' female true midas, 5'' butti, 7'' male two spot pike, 10'' red oscar, breeding pair both 8 inch jack dempseys, 14''. Everyone is already established im going to wait because my oscar still tries to swallow him hole. Hes already showing a lot of small black dots on both sides, which im assuming its a male, im keeping him in a 29 gallon until 4 inches.

Im looking into purchasing a 6'' florida gar also from my lfs.

Thank you

Nive Dovii, sorry he killed the other one. You may have problem with him killing the other fish when you put him in the 265 gallon.

he gets pretty aggressive right now, but i finally moved him into my larger tank, luckily my Rd's and jags are way larger and keep him in check. at 4 inches im pretty sure its a male.
