So we have just bought a new house, needs some work hopefully our family will be able to move in a couple months. Parents were generous to give me basically all of the basement as that's where my bedroom will be. Now there is a quite large open space, maybe like 15' x 15'- 20', whole basement is around 1400 sf...now as for tanks what do you think I should do there? It will take time, but I am hoping for a nice show tank, what size would you guys think should go there, I will have a 75-125 gallon for growing out fish . Super excited to finally have space for some tanks.

(Pardon all the mess in the basement, that's how the tenants had it during the tour of the house, due to them having renters at the time)

Hello; Congrats on the new place for your tanks. Looking at the pictures it is the carpet that caught my eye. I hope there is a cement slab under the carpet as this is common in a basement.
An issue over time with carpet can be a health problem for the people in a home. I spill water around my tanks and there are accidents or leaks that happen. Add to this the humidity in a basement can be high. Carpets do not dry out well over cement and may stay wet under a tank stand for a long time. Carpets also tend to hold a lot of stuff like dirt and dust, some of which can be organic. My point being there is a good chance for a lot of mold growth.
Another thing might be an issue if your stands are made of wood. Might need some sort of barrier between the stand and the floor.
Even so, still a nice problem to have. Give us some pictures later on.

Get rid of carpet and make a show pond with your favorite fish and tropical plants.
Show pond would be cool... I'm just hoping for an 8' x 4' at least, speaking of pond the house comes with one great fishing :P
There is actually a tank builder that comes up to the town and builds the tanks on site.. Got referred to them by a store in Prince George.. They had awesome marble motoros, wild caught motoros, plecos ect...

Almost 16, moving there in a couple months, lucky for me there is a college about 20 minutes from the house, and there is a university 1 hour away. I won't be spending a fortune on new tanks, just something to enjoy. Once I save up enough cash during those years, gou g back to the big city.. Really the only reason for moving is there's more money to be made, and properties are much cheaper, so I can buy properties to rent once I save up
