This is a really good deal! bump

I used this filter on all my tanks. The have great flow, quiet (unlike Emperor as the water splashes against the bio wheels). Their Bio media is awesome for the size. The filter sponge is great at catching all small particles. You really don't have to buy media other than carbon, but I never run the carbon anyway. Just clean and rinse the sponge and the bio rings.

I usually keep the carbon aside until I need to run carbon in the tank.

How good are these filters compared to, say, the Emperor 400 and the Penguin bio filters?

i have 5 of these and love them. they're like hob canisters (no more buying filter cartridges).

I think I may have you beat..

My 240 have 1 (used to have 2). My 75 gallon have 2, my 20 gallon have 1 of each and my 10 gallon have one..

I even used one for a HOB refugium on my salt tank.
