Hi,
A fish store is selling a golden dorado and they said it is a Brasilensis. So i took a video of the fish to post on here to get peoples opinions on it

Hard to tell from the video..... But I could see it being one, the head shape looks right from what I can see. Lil guy about 6-7"?

Check the thread I have in the media lounge, if it looks like Robert (my Brassy) then it very well could be.

Yeah, i think it looks alot like your's. The head shape looks alot different from my Frankies when it was the same size as this one

Is it about 5 times the price of a Franky??? lol

In my opinion, looking at one species to the other, the Frankys to me have a much different head shape, not near as round as Brassys, much pointier snout. My Brassy seemed lighter in color, almost a softer more pastel in coloration. The scales seem finer and smoother looking on the Brassys. Tail coloration on the Brassys seems much more define too. It's hard to explain all the differences, but IF you have a Franky, you just know by looking at them that it's a different fish.

The Brassys growth rate is crazy fast compared to the Frankys but that's not going to help much with the ID.... :(

Please tell me you're going to go back and get him!!!!!

Yeah i am getting him tomorrow! then i am gonna put him in my 125g grow out aquarium :). and the price is about 3 times the price of a frankie of the same size, It is £90 while a frankie would be about £30

I am very happy for you!!!!

I was VERY hesitant about a different species, especially given how much more money they are, but after having one in a tank for a week I was sold. Such aggressive eaters, mine acts completely different then any Franky I've had and I've raised a bunch. Seem to be really tolerant of tank mates too. Quickly became one of my favorite fish. Looking back I'm very happy I went for it instead of doubting.

Can't wait to see him grow up..... You better keep us all updated!!!!
