Hey,

I have been trying to follow the recent imports from brazil, but since I haven't been in the market for rays lately (because I've been focusing on asian aros, and getting myself ready for a big move), I haven't seen much other than black rays and a few hystrix that have come in. I also understand that some of the rays that are coming in are being exported as different species as we may consider them to be (p14 coming in under p13 because some still believe it to be the same species)

I have seen on the quota list that there are motoros, schroederi, cf.hystrix, obignyi, etc. I have heard that scobina comes in under a different name, and from what I understand, p14, comes in under p13. If some of these rays aren't actually these species, or at least different species under our consideration, what are some of these brazil rays coming in as.

So I was wondering if anyone could post pics of the non-black ray brazilian species that have come in.

Let me know,

Thank you,

Justin Morash

from what i understand the orb is the scobina, and motoro is actually pearl, but this is somehting I heard.... not actually experianced

Thanks,

I have been hearing a lot of rumors, and a lot of contradictory information. So I need to clear this up before I start ordering rays hahah.

Kevaldo is right, black rays are remarkably isolated from one another. P14s are brought in as P13s. Itd take a bit of money to pass off a pearl as a motoro though I would think.

Scobina are now considered P. orbygini which just boggles my mind but hey. There are quotas for motoros but I havent personally seen any Brazilian motoros offered in the US. P cf hystrix are still just that, P cf hystrix. Other rays such as P. falkneri are not coming in at all.

Here you´ll find the Ibama Documents everyone´s talking about. There you can see what are the quotas, who (wholwsalers/dealers) get it and who didnt. Good forum as well...so sad the best is in their language....
If you need someone to translate let me know, i understand portuguese, but its easy to read and understand.

Hey,

Thanks, I've looked at that document before. Unfortunately I can not read it haha. I do know the numbers, I was more wondering what rays could come in under the names listed (p14, come in as p13... obviously with a little bribing haha). I may bring in some scobina, but the prices I have been offered don't seem too great!

Anyone got any pictures of scobina (orbygini) and cf.hystrix that have come in from brazil?

Thanks,

Justin Morash

all the hystrix ray threads on here that say rays from pedro or aquascape are wild from brazil... i havent seen anybody get in scobina at this time...

Thanks guys,

I looked into getting some wild brazil cf.hystrix, but the only guy importing brazil rays is Oliver Lucanus, unfortunately he wont bring them in. I might just have to bring some in through the states haha.
