I have a 20" Pacu and a 26" Ornate Bichir. The Pacu's previous owners had it on a vegetarian diet of algae wafers and the Bichir's previous owners had it on feeders. The pacu will gently eat wafers from your hand but decided he liked the feeders, but only after the bichir had killed them so it started causing some arguments in the tank. I decided to break them both of feeders. For obvious reasons it wasn't too hard to break the pacu and get it to take blood worms and krill. The bichir however.... oh boy... having fed the pacu from my hand so many times I foolishly decided to "hand" some bloodworms to the bichir who readily chomped down on them HARD... she got three of my fingers pretty good. Determined she would learn, I went to Harbor Freight and bought a pair of 12" forceps and started feeding her with those. She is now broke of feeder fish... AND added bonus... the forceps are not as soft or forgiving as my fingers so after having clamped down on them pretty hard a few times she now has a gentler bite. I'm not sure I fully trust her yet, but I may try hand feeding her yet... but it will be a very long piece with my fingers at the far end. Lol

good job!

This pic is from before she was broke of the feeders. I got a foot long redtail over the weekend in trade for a tank I needed gone anyway. Lol. Breaking it now too.
