does the glass in a tank become weak over time? i have a 65 gallon tank from about 15 years ago, and it just makes me nervous considering how much weight that is since the glass on the bottom is significantly thinner than the side walls. im not sure of the exact dimensions since im not home but i believe its roughly 3ft wide and tall and 13in deep(front -back).

its taller than most tanks also and pretty narrow for its height. which also makes me nervous.

think its ok to use this tank?

i dont want it to fall or break from normal use :nilly: :nilly:

edt: it also has some small chips on the corners, none of them are formed into cracks tho, they are all crescent shaped

I have a 55 gallon that is much older than that still in use. Best thing is to check the seams, test fill it in the garage, or on the driveway, and leave it for a few hours, if it has no leaks, you will be fine.

According to a lessen in chemistry a while back, glass is technically a liquid (amorphous??? liquid I think it was called) I might be wrong but that is what I remember and really dont feel like researching it right now. That is why you see old bottles or glass look kind of deformed or strange. But it takes like over a hundred or so years for glass to flow due to gravity. That glass is safe for another 75 years at least.
