Hi I have just noticed that my GT is breathing rather heavily and I am not sure why.. He is not gasping at the surface rather the bottom, also about every 20 seconds he will go pick up some sand in his mouth and spit it out with some coming out his gills.. Is this normal? my other fish are also breathing hard but not as hard as him.. Can anyone help??

sounds like the same thing i'm going through had my water tested today and everything is perfect, the only thing that we all could come up with is that the temp was too high depleting the oxygen so i just turned down my heater hoping to see some results.....just did this about an hour ago so i'm not sure how long it will take to see if that helps though

Yeah water params are perfect.. The only solution I could come up with might be that I have stirred up some gasses in the substrate which is flourite.. Just seems to be strange that there all acting normal accept for the breathing..
