Who thinks I would have a problem with a 30 gallon tank, with a pair of breeding convicts (for feeders) a divider and make the other half a feeder tank, treating it for ick and parasites all the time. Would that mess with the fry to much or not bother it at all???

just get a ten gsllon tank as a hospital tank most meds are generally administered
in 10 gallon increments

Ok I think your correct, the thing I was trying to skip was getting another filter and heater. 
Just wondering. I already have the convicts and they have around 50 little fry about 2 weeks old, I may have to get off my cheap butt and do it.
