Breedig Demasoni Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You need 1 male and
1 female for breeding.
The question is with a small group like that will they kill each other?Likely.
if you have 4 females and 1 male you can put him in till he mates with the females then take him out.

im adding them with ele yellows, acei. kenyi and red zebras with plenty of caves will that keep them from fightn so much

What size aquarium? Out of 5, your odds are pretty good of having at least 1m and 1f. In that case they will eventually breed.

I have been keeping african cichlids for 15 years and as far as I have ever seen demasoni can be the most evil little buggers out there. They are best kept in groups of twelve or more and will readily kill off competitors for territory and mates. I had a group of 20 of these along with 20 electric yellows in a 125 and had many sucessful spawns. Then one day my dominant demasoni male went on a murder spree and killed 8 yellows and 5 other demasoni within 48 hours. I took him out of the tank which really upset the heirarchy of the tank and caused mayhem for around 2 weeks. They are beautiful fish however the agression level was enough that I decided to use the tank space for another species.

are u sayn that the demasoni will kill my other fish

possibly.Very likely they will kill each other.
Yellow labs are good tankmates for them.
Best kept in large groups to spread out the aggression.
