I have two young fh's that are about to spawn. :naughty:The female's egg tube is almost fully out so I am thinking she will start dropping eggs in the next 24 hrs. After she lays them and hopefully he fertilizes should I just leave the pair in the 75 gallon with the eggs, or take the male out? Should I get the fry out as soon as they are free swimming? The only fish I have owned that bred were convicts but that doesn't take any effort and I didn't have to take any special care of course. If anyone can give me some advice it would help me a great deal!!! BTW here is the happy couple. Male RD knocked down the divider and the result is...

Definitely take out the male at least and leave the female in there. Or you can take out the eggs after the spawning is done(remove male and female first to avoid any injuries) and relocate to a smaller home for grow outs.

If you remove the eggs, you need to have the same water parameters in the tank you move them too..
Also, add an airstone and place it close to the eggs for circulation..
Adding meth blue may also help to prevent any fungus on the eggs..

once the egg fetilizes. it will be tan color. once thats done you have to take out the male. if you keep it in there it will eat the eggs IF its their first time. after the egg hatches, female will eat the dead egg. once the frys are big enough to swim around move them to the 10 gallon and feed them crushes pellets or flakes.
