I want to know how to tell what sex BPs I have.Ive also searched about them breeding and theres a few different opinions.I just got these 2 for free with the tank and when I got home and re set it up one started digging a whole, like for eggs I thought. If I can find out what sex they are that would help me out,and if they really are always sterile what do I breed with?Any help with these 2 would be great, actually any info you guys have will be great!!!

They are "USUALY" sterile but I have seen them breed before. Sexing is the same as most cichlids. Look for a pointed anal fin , a hump on the head, or larger fish for a Male. The only sure fire way is to actually see the egg depositor of the Female it will look like a small tube and will only be visible if she is nesting or laying eggs.

GL even though I hate those fish :D

If there is another fish in the tank, would that stop them from breeding??
I have a electric blue african in there and he messes with them once in a while.I know your not supposed to keep africans with S.A but this is how it was when I bought the tank, the fish we free!So should I get rid of the blue and see if they will breed??

ok the blue kenya is removed and the egg tube is definatley showing now!I know that you guys say for sure the male is sterile but I can hope right that I have one of those flukes?
Should i put a planting pot in there for her eggs?(terra pot)

There's an obvious difference in the shape of the tubes. I've seen the spawn in a store multiple times but have NEVER seen wigglers.

If you put in a pot bust the bottom out so that they can exit either side of the pot. Use one big enough to get into it. A flat rock would probably work.

ok these two are going round and round like they are fighting but only nipping at each other once in awhile whats this all about?are they fighting or is this part of the mating ritual??
