Heya there guys, ive been doing some research online regarding the breeding of asian arowana, and came across some information that seemed very interesting. I read that asian arowana wont breed if they are taken too far away from the equator, but the same pair bought back to near the equator will happily spawn again? I wondered if anyone can confirm or deny the truth in this at all?

Obviously this is just a pipeline dream, and l;ikely hood is i have more chance of winning the lottery than ever keeping a breeding pair of asians (although doing one would of course lead to the other!) but i thought id get the questions out of my system now, for the sake of knowledge if anything else!

So if anyone has any information regarding breeding asians, please feel free to post it here, im sure others would also be interested!

i think thats crap as we have a guy hear in the UK (wetsocks) and his pair are showing signs of breeding

i think the reason they dont breed out of asia is because not many people keep multi aros in one tank

how many serious productive attempts have been made outside of asian on the large scale???? non that anyone has heard of.... it will happen, it is cleanly possible...

you just might.. i saw a video showing asians doing their breeding dance and afterwards the girl gave her man the eggs.. you just might bro.. try and keep us posted..

it will be dificult to most of us, for some reasons.
the farms have more know how on breeding them, more space, and of course, much more aros for it work.
but its not impossible, just more dificult.
wish to you the best of luck breeding them.

Thankyou for the replies guys! its good to know it is possible... if not something that happens every day. Just when i read the article it interested me due to the fact it was talking about the earths magnetic fields and affecting breeding, guess it was just a load of rubbish to explain things!

So if asians are worth a lot of money, there is a demand for them, and they can be bred outside of Asia... why arent they? id have thought some enterprising person would have started breeding them in full set ups like they do in Asia in order to get in a bit of profit. Koi keepers have done the same thing, why havent arowana been taken on board?

cos there is more money in rays.... and a lot less work.and in mos cases it will work out ur making more money from rays... p14's leos ext....

personally if i breed aros, id like to put the effort into jars.... why do what is already done when u can do something new......
