Well I got my pair of Flowerhorns (courtesy of John Rambo) to breed a few days back. I think the following steps that I took may have led to the failure of the eggs.

First, I noticed that the female was trying to eat the eggs so I separated her.
Second, I positioned a powerhead slightly above the eggs to help keep them clean.

Slowly the eggs turned white, then developed the cloud. I removed the female because the male would attack her viciously when she tried to eat the eggs. Any advice for next time??

you can always try dividing them with a plate under the divider so the eggs can be laid and fert easily. make sure the plate is half on each side. then remove the plate 1-2days after full spawn, and put it in a hatch tank with meth blue to help with fungus.

I'm still not sure if the egss were ever fertilized. The eggs were laid while I was asleep! I think I will try the meyth blue next time. I bought a 20L just as a fry tank too.

If the eggs turned white they weren't fertilized, you can try and after she lays them slide the plate to his side to fertilize them being it sounds like he's protecting them and not trying to eat them like she is.

Hey brother!
Hope you are enjoying the pair. I have had this problem with these two many times. He often does not skeet skeet on the eggs, then she just eats them. Give them some time, they will get it right. Ive hade them for over 2 years, dozens of tries, only 2 batches of fry. Good luck, post some pics.
