Our blue rams have eggs as of today. We removed the parents, as websites have suggested. We are wondering if anyone has had luck with breeding these and any suggestions....

hey did it take long for the rams to breed? j/w because i was woundering if i should get a pair.

What are you going to feed these? The easy part is getting them to breed the hard part is getting them to eat as they are usually too small for baby brine!!! I would try green water or an infusoria of some sort (I like blackwater infusoria made from fig leaves)...

i had a pair of german blue rams myself, they bred every month like clock work it was pretty cool. i didnt separate them from the eggs though, it was interesting to watch the parents move the eggs to a more suitable spot with their mouth, they just pick em up and spit them out. after they were born theyd herd them together in the same fashion you dont really have to worry about them eating the babies in my experience i noticed that they spent more time protecting the eggs and babies than hurting them, though after the babies a a few days old id put a divider in the tank so they can grow a bit i found it very easy to breed them

we had some luck feeding the fry hard boiled egg yolk crushed up in water and dispensed into the tank via medicine dropper. apparently theres alot of nutrients in the yolk that s good for the babies

There are also liquid fry foods now available or you can get daphnia cultures.

or microworm cultures. they must be available across the pond. look on ebay.
or try squeezing all the gunk from the filter sponge the fry will feed on this. just a few drops at a time though.
ph is the key to breeding rams. the lower the better. if you have already bred them then you on a winner. european rams are better if you can get them as asian rams are seriously drugged and considered unhealthy stock. german and dutch tend to be largest and longest living in my experience

they are easily sexed and i could take out 5 mins to post but you would learn more to look it up on google its readily available info.
