How hard are bn to breed? If I have 3 mature bn, 2 without tentacles and 1 with tentacles what are my chances of a successful spawn? Assuming the 1 is male with a very broad head and tentacles. They are common bn btw. The species easiest to breed. And in a peaceful planted tank. Anything in particular that will help seduce them into spawning?

Yes they are very easy to spawn. I have spawned them in the past. All you need to do is add a cave for the male. He will breed with the females inside the cave, after which he will guard the eggs as well as fan the eggs. My water temp was about eighty degrees when they spawned.

Anything in particular i need to look for in this cave? like only 1 entrance, or a certain size, color, dark/bright, etc?

i never bred them, but i think you want a small narrow cave, like pvc pipe.if you don't have driftwood, you should add a piece or 2.they need the pulp from the wood as they graze/chew on it.i think the young would require it even more

I bred them several times and had no intentions of doing so. In fact, I never saw the eggs. However, I did have a makeshift cave made of two pieces of slate propped against each other. Then tons of fry. Had it happen 3 times. Kept some of the fry and now they are around 5-6" and very healthy in the tank. Be patient and let them be.
