[FONT=Comic Sans MS, Verdana]Hey all.

I saw this site on the web, and it states: Breeding: Can only be done with smaller animals. If fed well and the water is clean, a rise in temperature will usually induce spawning. Be carefull when handling the tank, the fish will defend the eggs ferociously.

Have anyone ever bred them in the home tank..?
Or is this just a guess..?

in my colection of books i have a old book called Jumbo Fishes by Dr H.R.Axelrod i think it was first printed in 1977 he spawned them he quotes "Spawning is done at the bottom the arquarium usally in the morning the lighter than water eggs quickly float to the surface where they hatch in 3 days at 80f they are free swimming in a week

Lol thats sounds cool..!! But have anyone breed them since..?

I have a 240 gallon with motoros.. But they will be moved to a bigger tank soon so it would be funny to try and breed some Giant snakeheads, if it can be done anyway.. :)

Kind regards Anders..

Hi there, in the future I'm attempt to breed with the channa micropeltes. For now they are too youngh in age to start with it, I suppose ( 4 months ). But they have accept each so I'm very hopefully. next year I gonna put them in a 2.5 mtr tank with an Tetratec 2400 and some intern filtering pumps, also from tetratec. My experience with turbid water is to let a lot of air flowing trough the inner filtrationpomp by connecting the pipe or hose to the nipple on the pump. Within a few houres the water is clear. Mostly faster than by the external biologic filtering pump. When I start with breeding I will keep a weekly post of it.

HI,

micros are bred forr food in Asia, eg Thailand.
There was a report on that in an issue of the german "Amazonas"-magazine.
The fish were kept in net cages in a big reservoir and lots of fresh caught feder fish. So such a small tank is 100 % not geting them into breeding mood.

I think it's impossible to breed micropeltes in any given tank. It just doesn't induce mating behavior. I'd get a sizeable pond first.
