hey every one i am thinking of trying my hand at breeding african cichlids. this is my first time trying this. what do you guess recamend? the tank is a standard footprint 90 gallon.

I just put my fish in and they bred naturally. I did nothing to encourage it. I would suggest doing frequent/consistent water changes and it should just happen.
I wasn't planning on breeding. Just one day I saw a tiny little fish peek out from under a rock. Next thing I knew, I had a couple generations without even trying.

It really is this simple... If I were you I would pick a specific species for example Yellow Labs... Get a nice colony going of about 10-12 breeder size adults... I would probably get a good ratio of male and Females (8F-2M or 9F-3M)...

and like EastBay said frequent water changes with a proper diet and you will produce plenty of fry....

Keep us posted on what you plan to do:headbang2

You could breed almost any African cichlid in a tank that size. I would say just pick the species you like most and ask questions from there.
