i have 2 male and 3 female labeotropheus trewavasae, my main guy wants to breed with the females but they seem to want to have nothing to do with him. is there any way to get them going. raising the water temp,...blah blah

also i bought 2 fish from livefishdirect which arrived today, the two different speices i ordered came mismatched, the male i wanted actually was a female and the female i wanted came in a male. i dont know if that has ever happened to anyone but know one is answering my calls emails. so much for there service.

The breeding will happen in time. How big is the tank? Have they been in there long? Chances are the girls just aren't ready yet. Keep feeding them quality food and keep the water clean and they will spawn soon enough. Patience is a virtue in breeding cichlids.

As for live fishdirect I haven't dealt with them yet.

Sounds like it just going to take a little more time. The males are usually ready before the females :) High quality food and frequent water changes are the keep to getting Cichlids spawning.

Keep up the water changes. You can also simulate the rainy season by putting in fresh water that is just a bit cooler that what the tank temp is.

I would increase the number of times a day you are feeding. It will help condition the females. Be sure that you keep up with the water changes as more food = more waste.
